Schools
Every day, 160,000 students miss school out of fear of being bullied. The growth of social media and cyber bullying has extended the torment beyond the school walls and our children are now coping with new and ever-changing forms of aggression and abuse from their peers. In addition, among teens that are dating, one in four will experience abuse within their intimate relationships, with 12% now reporting being physically assaulted by their dating partner.

To help local schools tackle bullying and promote positive pro-social behaviors and relationships, Domestic Violence Service Center offers a range of exciting and interactive presentations for school students of all ages. Our Elementary school programs focus on healthy relationships, anti-bullying and cyber bullying and our Middle and High school programs focus on the impact and potential dangers of teen bullying, cyber bullying and teen dating violence. Our programs combine elements of discussion, interactive activities, quizzes and videos to create a fun and engaging presentation for students.

All programs are offered free of charge to all schools, youth groups and kids clubs in Luzerne and Carbon Counties. Presentations last approximately 1 hour and can be delivered either to large groups of students or in classrooms. We are happy to tailor the length of the session to fit your schedule or to develop a custom presentation to focus on any specific bullying or relationship abuse issues that may be arising in your school.
